Press release: The Second meeting of the Managing board of INVO project was held

On Thursday 21st November 2013, the second meeting of the Managing board of the project “Higher Education and Research for innovation and competitiveness - IVNO” was held, chaired by the Minister of Education, Mr. Slavoljub Stijepovic and the Minister of Science Prof. Sanja Vlahovic PhD, The aim of the meeting was that members of Managing board get acquainted with carried out activities and implementation plan of future activities, in order to provide possibilities for the quality supervision of implementation of the project  activities and, accordingly, adopt decisions in accordance with the needs of the project itself.

Besides chairpersons, Minister of Education and Minister of Science, participants at the meeting were the representatives of the World Bank team Mr. Alberto Rodriguez, acting director for HR development and manager for education for the region of Europe and Central Asia, Mrs. Roberta Male Baset, higher specialist for education for the region of Europe and Central Asia and team leader of the World Bank for the INVO project, Mr Gabriel Godard, higher economist and Mrs. Ivona Borovik, consultant for innovation, and Deputy Minister for Higher Education in the Ministry of Education,  Mrs. Mubera Kurpejovic.

After an introductory presentation of Minister Vlahovic, the project director Mr Darko Petrusic explained progress to date and planned development of activities for all four project components: the reforms of higher education financing and carrying out norms for ensuring quality, the development of human resources through initiatives of internationalization, setting up of a competitive    environment for research and managing, monitoring and project evaluation.

After an insight in the existing state and next planned project steps, discussion was followed by very constructive comments of the members of the board.

A detailed analyses of the past and future planned activities brought to certain knowledge, for example, the possibilities of expanding the Managing  board; considering the working version of documentation from the side of two councils, the Council for Science and Research and the Council for Higher Education , in order to additionally raise the quality of project; then the need for developing detailed plan with all guidelines for the forthcoming year; planning communication activities in the forthcoming year, that will allow project to receive more adequate promotion in public and consequently higher transparency.
